Are you an abandoned seafarer?
Abandoned ships can leave seafarers stranded for months in ports far from home without fuel, food, water, or wages. Abandonments are increasing, so you should be aware of your rights.
What we do?
The DAD-DER (Marine Employees’ Solidarity Association) is an independent trade union in Turkey, affiliated to the ITF, to secure that all crews on board vessels calling Turkish ports are covered with acceptable CBAs. The ITF is a federation of more than 700 trade unions in more than 150 countries representing 18 million transport workers and its policies are widely known and recognized by the ship owners and other maritime operators also.

Outstanding Wages
In times of crisis, the most fundamental problem for seafarers is not receiving their wages on time. Sometimes seafarers are forced to work for months without being paid, and in some cases they are unable to receive their wages even after leaving the ship. Please contact us for assistance with this matter.
Legal Support
Our association works through the lawyers with whom it collaborates to bring legal proceedings on virtually any matter affecting seafarers, provide legal assistance, and coordinate with national and international bodies and organisations where cooperation is deemed beneficial.
Occupational Accidents
When compared using criteria such as the ratio of fatal workplace accidents to the number of workers, the maritime industry is the second most dangerous profession in the world after mining. On top of that, there is a whole host of intangible occupational side effects that we seafarers have learnt the hard way.
CBAs
DAD-DER is a democratic and independent organisation dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the economic, social and cultural rights and interests of seafarers. It is authorised to conduct negotiations on behalf of the ITF, sign collective agreements and inspect ships covered by such agreements.
